What remains of us when we are gone? From the intimate pages of Anne Frank's diary to a letter written to one's future self, ‘A Living Voice’ will reflect on the way voices, stories, mempories and ideas endure.

At the centre of the program is Linda Tutas Haugen’s powerful ‘Anne Frank: A Living Voice’ for treble voices and string quartet, an emotional song cycle drawn from excerpts of Anne Frank’s diary, tracing her psychological journey through more than two years in hiding, from fear and despair towards strength and hope.

Melbourne composer Robert McIntyre’s new piece ‘Us across planes’, takes the form of an introspective, conversational diary entry with oneself, reflecting on who we were, who we are now and who we hope to become. It explores how our lives and selves contain multitudes, like a prism refracting light over time, with experiences both light and dark making up the sum of who we are.

Come and share this special evening with Alta Collective in the Reading Room. A beautiful space where generations of words and stories have found a place to be heard.
