“Welcome to the first issue of The Coronet for 2025.

Congratulations to the 29 new grantees who have been awarded grants totalling $302,022. These grants will allow them to undertake tailored professional development to deepen their practical skills and widen their professional connections. I wish our new grantees all the best on their travels and learning opportunities.

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust is underpinned by a commitment to excellence. The Trust seeks to support artists who are passionate about their work and have the potential to be outstanding in their field. This year's first funding round of Emerging Artist Grants was particularly competitive, with the Trust receiving 175 applications, the largest number in its 32-year history. This confirms the continuing need for philanthropic support for artist development.

So, I am delighted to share two exceptional opportunities for professional development in theatre and the music industry (see below) that are currently supported by The Ian Potter Foundation. These opportunities are open to early-career artists and arts workers across Australia. I encourage anyone interested to learn more about them and apply.

Our next round of Emerging Artist Grants will open later this month. If you have a professional development opportunity, you are planning to undertake in late 2025 or early 2026; this would be the appropriate round for you.

Good luck with your applications.
